Department Mission Statement
The Department of Cinema and Photography offers undergraduate and graduate
courses in the history, theory, criticism, and production of cinema, photograph,
and digital arts. Our educational orientation is a holistic, arts and humanities
based understanding of media as a social and cultural practice. We are
committed to graduating critical, original, and socially responsible artists
and scholars who, as global citizens, can imagine and produce alternatives
in media theory and practice. We are dedicated to fostering a creative
and intellectual climate of active engagement and support for faculty and students.
Catalog Description
This course introduces students to digital multimedia applications and the
processes used to produce games, courseware, Web sites, and other communication
content. It provides an overview of consumer and business uses of multimedia
and addresses specific issues in planning and project management. Students
acquire hand-on experience in multimedia development from the initial articulation
of a concept to the execution and evaluation of the final product. Students
learn specific skills tools in multimedia production within a context emphasizing
good design principals and practices.
