Project One: Experiments in Art and Life
A theme running through our studies so far this semester has been the act of blurring. Intermedia blurs the line between distinct media specialties; postmodernism blurs the line between pop culture and ‘high’ culture; and various avant-garde movements from Dadaists to non-Artists have sought to blur the distinction between art and life. In this first assignment, you will alter an ordinary activity every day for one week and recontextualize it in the artistic sphere. You will present documentation of the activity in the class and maintain a journal in your creative notebook in which you record your responses to way removing the act from ‘life’ and placing it into ‘art’ change the action, your life, and you. The form that the documentation takes is up to you, but video, photographs, audio recordings, or a collection of ephemera are all possible results. We will discuss possible presentation strategies during in-class workshopping sessions.

Project Two: Sustained Development of Ideas
Because everyone had such interesting initial ideas and because our critique was so helpful, I want to give you a chance to continue to develop your work in the later part of the semester.
